Disclaimer and ground rules

Plain English, because it matters more than legal wording: this site is written by walkers, for walkers, and it can be wrong.

Nothing here is a substitute for a proper map, a weather forecast and your own judgement. Some of these walks are on mountains, cliffs and open moorland where a mistake is serious.

It is community driven, not surveyed

Every bench, route, walk time, photo and Bench Score comes from a member of the public who went there. Nobody here is a surveyor, a mountain guide or a landowner. A curator checks each submission for obvious problems before it appears — that is a sense check, not a survey.

Mistakes are likely

Coordinates can be a few metres or a few hundred metres out. Walk times depend on who was walking. Parking closes, changes price or fills up. Entry fees and permit rules change. Paths get washed out, gates get locked, rivers rise, snow arrives. Where we cannot map a walk reliably we say so and draw no route line at all, but even our best information may be out of date by the time you read it.

We accept no responsibility

Everything on this site is provided as is, with no warranty of any kind. We accept no responsibility or liability of any kind for the route information, walking directions, distances, timings, difficulty grades, parking, access, entry fees, or any other data published here, nor for its accuracy, completeness or fitness for any purpose. You are responsible for your own safety, for the people with you, and for planning your day with a proper map and a current forecast. Go only where you are legally allowed to go.

No personal data

Do not submit personal data of any kind. No other people's names, faces or voices, no car registrations, no house numbers or addresses of private homes, no phone numbers, and nothing that identifies someone who has not agreed to it. Clips must have no spoken words and no identifiable people — instrumental or clean music only. Anything that breaks this is removed, and the account is permanently banned.

Respect the place

Do not submit private land, or anywhere you had no right to be. Follow Leave No Trace: take everything home, stay on paths where they exist, and leave the bench exactly as you found it.

Tell us when something is wrong

If a bench, route, parking note or fee is wrong — or should not be here at all — say so and we will correct or remove it. That is how the map gets better.
