Submit a bench

Film ten seconds looking up from the seat, post it, then tell us where it is. Every submission is checked by a curator before it appears in the Official Bench Score.

Add a clear JPEG, PNG or WebP showing the bench and its view. Maximum 10 MB.

Attach the file your watch or phone app saved — Strava, Garmin, Komoot, OS Maps, AllTrails and Apple Fitness all export one (a .gpx file). We draw your real footsteps instead of guessing the path. No app? Skip this — most people do.

Only add route details you are confident about — please read the disclaimer first.

No walk file attached.

Where the walk starts (point A)

We draw a line from here to the bench, and look up nearby car parks.

Parking and getting there

We try to find nearby car parks automatically, but local knowledge beats a map. Tell people where to leave the car, what it costs, when it fills up, and how to arrive by bus or train if that works better.

Pin the car park yourself if the map data is wrong or missing — we'll show it as P on the map. UK pay-by-phone bays (RingGo and similar) aren't in any open map, so add the location code in the notes above.

Entry fees and passes (optional)

National parks, estates and toll roads often charge. Say what it costs, who takes the money and whether a pass covers it.

What is the walk actually like? (optional)

The bits a map cannot tell anyone. All optional — anything you add helps the next person plan.

Landmarks along the way (optional)

Anything that helps someone follow the route: a stile, a waterfall, a junction, a viewpoint, a café. Add coordinates only if you have them — a name and a note is plenty.

By submitting you confirm the bench is publicly accessible and that nothing was attached to, carved into or left on it.
